Desktop Support
Desktop for iOS
Something not working, a question about your subscription, or an idea? Email support@arkive.tech and a person will read it.
If you write from the Support row in Desktop's menu, the app fills in your version and device for you, which usually saves a round trip. Otherwise, telling us your iOS version, your device, and what you were doing when it went wrong gets you a useful answer fastest.
Common questions
How do I save something?
Desktop lives in the iOS share sheet. In any app — Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, YouTube, Photos, Safari — tap Share and choose Desktop. The item is added to your library and filed onto a Desktop automatically. You can share several things at once.
If Desktop isn't in the share sheet, scroll the app row to the end, tap More, and switch it on. You can drag it nearer the front while you're there.
Something I saved shows no picture or title
Desktop asks the original platform for a post's title, creator and cover image. When a post is from a private account, has been deleted, or the platform declines the request, there is nothing to show and the card stays plain. The link itself still works. Reopening the item will try again.
What happened to my free saves?
Desktop includes a one-time allowance of free saves so you can try it properly before paying. It is a lifetime allowance, not a monthly one, and deleting a saved item does not return a save. The menu shows how many you have used. Once it runs out, a subscription lifts the limit.
Managing or cancelling a subscription
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, so they are managed in your Apple account: Settings → your name → Subscriptions, the same place every other subscription on your phone lives. Cancelling there stops future renewals and keeps your access until the current period ends.
We cannot cancel a subscription or issue a refund on your behalf — only Apple can. Refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. If you were charged for something that looks wrong, write to us anyway and we will help you work out what happened.
I paid, but Desktop still says I'm on free saves
Open the menu, tap Upgrade, then Restore Purchases at the bottom of that screen. That re-checks your Apple account for an active subscription. If it still doesn't take, check you are signed in to the same Apple Account that bought it, then email us.
Is my library backed up?
Your library is stored on your device, not on a server of ours, so it is included in your device's own iCloud or computer backup and restored with it. There is no separate Desktop account to sign in to on a new phone; restoring a backup brings your library with it. Deleting the app deletes its library.
What does Desktop send off my device?
Very little, and never anything tied to your identity. Your own photos and videos are never sent anywhere — they stay on your device. When you save a post or a link, its already-public details are sent to be sorted onto the right Desktop. The privacy policy sets out each case specifically.
Reporting a bug
The most useful report is a boring one: what you did, what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot if it was visible. If it involves a specific saved item, the source platform and whether the post is public helps a lot.
